Artisans in the Bolgatanga region of Ghana weave these beautiful and durable baskets from thick, tough elephant grass. A popular choice among green shoppers, busy mothers, and picnic planners worldwide, Bolga baskets stand up to use and abuse and remain functional and beautiful for years.

Meet the Artisans

This item is fairly made in Africa. Each artisan is able to work from the comfort of their own home and community. The fair payment they receive will not be reduced by traveling expenses, childcare costs or haggled prices. The artisans use their earnings to put food on the table and pay educational expenses for their children.


Our products will have slight variations in design and size, this is a natural occurrence in handmade goods and one of the many reasons we love them so.

No two designs will be exactly alike, giving you a lasting one-of-a-kind product to treasure for years to come.

Just as beautiful as pictured

This is such a nice large bolga basket. The quality and craftsmanship are beautiful. It did need to be sprayed and reshaped but that’s the character of handmade. So many uses planned for this basket!

Next level basket!

The leather handle and tight, handwoven pattern take this basket to another level! Trust me, you’ll want to hide your other baskets after having this beauty in your home. It’s medium sized and super sturdy as well. Mine is sitting on the floor next to a dresser where I can just admire it. Have your water spray bottle ready to reshape the basket after shipping and you’re good to go. Timeless design, and well worth the investment. I’ll be purchasing the little matching basket next!
