Handwoven in Ethiopia using time-honored weaving traditions and AZO-free dyes. All of the dyeing is done in small batches at the workshop as the artisans work to rekindle the tradition of natural dye in Ethiopia.
This collection is completely handmade of hand-spun and hand-dyed cotton. The Ethiopian cotton adds a uniquely rich texture that will continue to soften and become more absorbent with each wash/dry.
These waffle hand towels are hemmed on the edges. They are made with a four-harness traditional handloom which provides the towel its three-dimensional look. The waffle weave is very absorbent and super soft.

Meet the Artisans
Hand spinning and weaving are century-old skills in Ethiopia that were once highly respected. However, because of the increased availability of large-scale manufactured textiles from within the country and abroad, this craft is slowly disappearing.
The craftsmanship of hand spinning and weaving results in one of the finest textiles in the world. The beauty lies in the culture and creativity that is woven into each unique piece. Every purchase encourages the artisans to preserve the rich textile tradition.
Fifty percent of the staff is women and about seventy-five percent of the management positions are held by women. The artisans are provided fair wages and sustainable employment. They attend training regularly, both to build their capacity in their respective areas of specialization but also to help them better manage their finances, their health and homes.
