Ndaya Tabletop Basket - 3

Sold Out

Wolof women in rural Senegal craft these vibrant baskets from typha stalks (cattails) and strips of plastic used in the production of bazin mats. Since many of the men in the community work far from the village, weaving baskets allows the women of the household to contribute to the family's income.

Each Ndaya basket features a beautiful array of colors and makes a beautiful addition to the tabletop.

Meet the Artisans

This item is fairly made in Africa. Each artisan is able to work from the comfort of their own home and community. The fair payment they receive will not be reduced by traveling expenses, childcare costs or haggled prices. The artisans use their earnings to put food on the table and pay educational expenses for their children.
